A guide for new drivers · Season 2026
Your firstkarting race.
Want to race but unsure what a day in the league involves? AKLS uses rental karts supplied by the circuit. You can try one round as a guest without buying a kart or committing to a full season. Here is what to know before you enter.
- Experience
- Beginners welcome
- First step
- One round as a guest
- On track
- Qualifying + 4 races
Beginners are welcome
The league welcomes beginners and experienced drivers. You need to understand and respect the rules, flags and organizer instructions. Every driver attends the mandatory briefing before the competitive sessions.
Drivers must weigh at least 55 kg. Minors can participate with an accompanying adult. Contact the organizer before entering if you have questions about eligibility.
Your qualifying time determines your initial race group; later groups change with results. Rookie is an additional classification for newcomers. Everyone takes part in the same races, rather than a separate beginner event.
What does your first race cost?
Guest entry
120 EUROne guest race, without an annual membership fee.
Wait for the organizer’s payment instructions before paying. Sending a request does not confirm a place.
Guests pay for the race without an annual membership fee. Guest places are filled after member entries, so availability varies by round. You can race as a guest at most twice per season; check membership options and availability if you want to continue.
Your race day includes
- A rental kart and a helmet to use if you need one.
- Hot-lap qualifying, three group races and a final.
- All of those sessions, regardless of your finishing positions.
Budget for these separately
- Practice is optional and charged separately. Check the price and booking instructions for your round before reserving sessions.
- Drivers arrange their own travel and accommodation. Shared transport and splitting expenses are informal arrangements between participants.
If your plans change
The published rulebook provides a refund when you notify the organizer at least seven days ahead. Cancellation within seven days does not normally receive a refund. Read the full cancellation rules and contact the organizer as soon as you know you cannot attend.
Pack for a day at the circuit
- Wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable sports clothing. You do not need your own racing suit.
- The circuit supplies a helmet if you need one. Bring your own helmet, gloves or suit if you already have them.
- No kart of your own is needed: the league races in the circuit’s rental karts.
- Save the confirmed timetable and arrival information before travelling. Ask the organizer about anything unclear while you are planning the trip.
From check-in to the final
Plan for a race day with breaks between sessions. Your participation continues beyond one outing: qualifying and all four races are part of your program.
Practice and preparation
The morning includes optional practice, arrival and weighing. Book practice separately; it is outside the race fee. Everyone attends the race director’s briefing before the competitive sessions.
Qualifying and group races
For qualifying, you leave the pits, complete one timed lap and return to the pits. That time determines your initial group. Three group races follow, with groups changing according to results.
Finals and the podium
Group-race results decide which final you enter. Every driver has a final race. The day ends with trophies and a group photograph; check the event timetable when planning your journey home.
The rulebook recommends arriving at least 30 minutes before the agreed event start. Check in at the main stand and complete weighing in your driving equipment. Attend the briefing on time, whether or not you have booked practice.

“A great opportunity to live out your childhood dream of racing, though not necessarily winning. Good company and racing.”
Three steps towards your first race
Choose a round
Check the calendar, location and date. The next-race page contains its timetable and entry form. If a later round suits you better, ask the organizer about entries.
Send your request
Enter your full name and an email address you check regularly. The form sends a participation request. Use the contact page for questions about your first visit or a guest place.
Arrange payment and arrival
Look out for the team’s reply. Check availability and follow the payment instructions you receive. Clarify your entry confirmation and event timetable with the organizer before travelling.
A request-sent message does not confirm a place or payment. If sending fails or you need help with a reply, use the contact page.
